HOUSTON—October 20, 2026— S&B, a leading engineering, procurement and construction company, received the 2026 Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Greater Houston Excellence in Construction Award for the Energy Transfer Flexport Chiller Project in Nederland, Texas. The award recognizes outstanding construction projects and achievements in project excellence, safety, teamwork and innovation. S&B was recognized at the ABC Greater Houston Excellence in Construction Awards Gala on Sept. 18, 2026.
The project logged 4.5 million work hours with zero lost time incidents and, at peak, had more than 1,400 workers on site. The field team achieved six mechanical completions within 12 months, all on or ahead of schedule.
“The success of Flexport came down to strong teamwork across the entire S&B team, including engineering, procurement and construction, along with the hard work of our craft professionals and client project partners,” said Scott Pope, Vice President of Construction at S&B. “Everyone played a part in getting the job done safely, efficiently and successfully.”
S&B also earned Industrial Business Roundtable (IBR) Best in Class recognition, along with an Owner Tribute Award and Safety Legacy Award through the 2026 Golden Triangle Business Roundtable (GTBR) and Industrial Safety Training Council (ISTC) Contractor Safety Awards program. Energy Transfer nominated S&B for the Owner Tribute recognition. The project also received an Energy Transfer President’s Award.
