S&B Named Finalist in Gulf Energy Excellence Awards

HOUSTON, August 27, 2025 – S&B has been recognized as a finalist across several categories of the Gulf Energy Excellence Awards, which honors innovation, leadership and performance in the energy sector. This year’s winners will be announced on Oct. 16 at a gala in Houston.

"We’re proud to be named as finalists in this year’s Gulf Awards,” said Jeff Sipes, CEO of S&B. "This recognition reflects the dedication, talent and integrity of our team. It’s rewarding to see the impact of their work on our industry.” 

S&B is a finalist in the following categories:

  • Best Health, Safety or Environmental Contribution (Midstream)
    S&B’s Capacity Indexes are part of its Human Organizational Performance program. This tool was designed to help teams work safely and effectively, even in unpredictable situations. 
  • Lifetime Achievement (Downstream)
    James Jenkins, Director of Project Management - With 45 years in the pulp and paper industry, Jenkins has led major projects that improved safety, boosted efficiency and introduced new technologies. He’s helped advance the industry by mentoring the next generation of engineers, while sharing the knowledge he’s gained through decades of hands-on leadership.
  • Most Promising Engineers (Midstream)
    Abigail Reed, Mechanical Engineer, and Austin Hodges, Process Specialist - Reed is pushing the boundaries of compressor technology in the EPC industry, with a strong focus on vendor compliance and clear technical communication. Hodges has helped advance the industry with a new, proven-safe method for handling hydrogen venting codes. 
  • Excellence in Corporate Culture
    S&B’s MindFULL learning initiative and PATHS program (Plan, Achieve, Transform, Harness and Succeed) are helping employees grow, innovate and lead. These programs are shaping the company’s future and building future leaders.

The Gulf Energy Excellence Awards honors excellence in safety, engineering, culture and sustainability.
