Houston, Texas – [June 4, 2025] – S&B announced today that Gordon Beaver, Executive Vice President of Health, Safety, Environmental (HSE), Security and Talent Development, will retire at the end of June following a distinguished 30-year career with the company.

Beaver joined S&B in 1995. He has been instrumental in the establishment of S&B’s comprehensive HSE program, led our participation in the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA’s) Voluntary Protection Program and successfully introduced Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) principles into our leadership philosophy around safety and operational excellence. Under his leadership, S&B earned multiple national recognitions, including being named as a 17-time winner of the Associated Builders and Contractors’ National Safety Excellence Award, an 11-time recipient of the Houston Business Roundtable and Industry Business Roundtable Safety Excellence Award, and a nine-time recipient of the Construction Industry Safety Excellence Award.

“Gordon has been an exceptional leader for S&B for more than three decades,” said Jeff Sipes, Chief Executive Officer of S&B. “He set the tone for what it means to protect our people and to ensure everyone goes home safely at the end of each day. His contributions have left a legacy that will shape S&B for years to come.”

John Bolt will take on an expanded role, as Senior Vice President of HSE and Security, and will assume full leadership responsibility for the company’s HSE and Security functions, effective July 1, 2025. Bolt joined S&B following a career with the United States Marine Corps, where he served as an officer and F/A-18 pilot for 26 years. Bolt joined S&B in 2017, and during his tenure, has been instrumental in leading the company’s integration of HOP into our safety program, which is focused on fostering more resilient and error tolerant systems and processes.
