At S&B, strong projects start with strong people. Those who show up early, solve problems quickly and take pride in their work. Construction Appreciation Week gives us a chance to highlight those who bring that commitment to every site, every shift, every job.
Across S&B projects, people like Bridget Stallman and Adam Aycock lead with experience, consistency and a clear sense of purpose.
Bridget Stallman: From warehouse floor to field leadership
Bridget started in the warehouse. She later moved into engineering, then gained field experience as a pipe clerk. She never stopped learning or pushing forward. Today, after 18 years, she works as a manager of field auditing to help crews stay on track.
“The best thing about working at S&B is the people,” she said. “No matter what job site I visit or what project I start, I see familiar faces, especially in the field. Some of these folks I’ve worked with on 15 different jobs.”
Bridget and her team review field data, confirm quantities and verify that the reported work aligns with the actual work done on site. Her path shows what’s possible when people earn trust and take ownership.
Adam Aycock: Building a team and a career from the ground up
Adam first walked into the Mount Belvieu hiring office in 2012. He signed on for a night-shift pipefitting job. Thirteen years later, he runs field operations as a construction manager. “You’re not just a number here,” he said. “You can really feel the family.”
Adam believes strong leadership starts in the field. His days begin at the gate, checking in with crews and superintendents. Being present helps teams solve problems early, stay safe and keep the work moving without delay. “That’s my main driver for the superintendents and the field staff that work for me. Stay in the field,” he said.
Why they build and why they stay
Some people come to construction for the paycheck. Others stay because they love the work, Adam puts it. “I like to see things get built.”
That’s what keeps people like Adam and Bridget coming back to the field. It’s the reward of turning plans into steel and seeing progress take shape on solid ground. Adam sees the bigger picture, too. “Down here on the U.S. Gulf Coast, we’re not just providing jobs. We’re providing energy and fuel for the entire world.”
He still remembers how it started. “I never thought walking into that office 13 years ago for a six-month job that I’d still be here,” he said. “But it’s one of the best things that’s happened to me in my career.”
Thank you
Behind every milestone and every project stands a team that made it happen. “Our people are the reason customers trust us to deliver,” said John Parker, S&B’s president and chief operating officer. “They bring skill, pride and a sense of responsibility that shows in every phase of the work. We don’t take that for granted. Your work drives us forward. It builds trust with our customers, strengthens our teams and raises the standard across every job. Thank you for everything you do.”
