James W. (Brook) Brookshire

Chief Executive Officer

Brook Brookshire is the Chief Executive Officer of the Houston-based S&B family of companies (S&B), which includes S&B Engineers and Constructors, Ltd.; S&B Plant Services, Ltd.; S&B Infrastructure, Ltd.; S&B Modular Operations; and S&B India. Brook is also a Manager of Ford, Bacon & Davis, LLC (FB&D). Collectively, S&B and FB&D are leading providers of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for a wide range of industries including oil & gas, refining, petrochemical, infrastructure, pulp & paper, power and industrial. 

As CEO, Brook is responsible for overseeing the operations of the total enterprise, which employs more than 4,500 people and includes multiple offices in the Houston area as well as throughout the US and overseas. 

Brook’s career with S&B began in 1983.  Since that time, he has served in numerous capacities, gaining invaluable, broad-based knowledge of the EPC business. Before his current role, Brook worked at every level of S&B, from a field hand on construction projects to estimator, proposal manager and IT manager. 

Most recently, Brook served for many years as Vice-President, Business Development, where he was responsible for securing major contracts with leading owner / operators in the midstream and downstream sectors. During this period, he also acted as representative for his father and company co-founder, William A. Brookshire. 

In 1967, Brook’s father co-founded S&B with James G. Slaughter on the principles of honesty, integrity and safety. As CEO, Brook continues the organization’s uncompromising commitment to these values. S&B has been acknowledged many times over the years for its unparalleled safety record and dedication to career development and training of craft labor. Over the last 20 years, these recognitions have included receiving the Associated Builders & Contractors (ABC) National Excellence in Construction award and National Safety Excellence award ten times and eight times respectively, the Construction Users Roundtable (CURT)’s Construction Industry Safety Excellence and Workforce Development awards seven times, and the Houston Business Roundtable (HBR) Best in Category and Gold awards nine times. 

Brook is passionately involved in continuing and expanding his father’s legacy of promoting education through the William A. Brookshire Foundation. Established by William A. Brookshire, the Foundation provides scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students, many of whom would not otherwise be able to attend college without its help. Since 2010, well over 1,000 students at the University of Houston, Louisiana State University and many other colleges that have benefited from this charitable foundation. 

Family is very important to Brook. He lives in Houston with his wife, Julie Their son, James William Brookshire II, also lives in Houston and has just begun his own career with S&B. When not spending time with his family, Brook enjoys racing sports cars and shooting sporting clays.
